Experience:

Paul joined Burgoynes in 1997 and became a Partner in 2006.

His principal areas of work are the investigation of fires, explosions and chemistry-related incidents, such as cargo contamination and problems arising from the use and application of chemical products. He has undertaken over 1200 investigations both in the UK and overseas in Europe, Africa, Central and South America. He has investigated fires and explosions in a range of premises, from domestic to large industrial, and also plant and equipment, including both road-going, off-road and rail vehicles. He has also investigated fires and explosions in tanker ships and bulk/container ships, and alleged incidents of contamination of cargo introduced during shipping. Investigations into problems arising from the use and application of chemical products include disputes relating to fertilisers and herbicide products used in the agricultural industry, and the use of paint products.

Paul has provided expert testimony in arbitrations, in addition to civil, criminal and Coroners’ Courts. He has also lectured on fire investigation to Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Cumbria and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Services, in addition to insurance industry audiences.
