Last month, the International Group of P&I Clubs hosted a regional P&I Correspondents seminar in Hong Kong. Attendees included representatives from all 12 IG Clubs and over 250 local correspondents from Asia, as well as participants from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and South America.
Chris Kenyon-Edwards, an Associate in our Hong Kong office, was invited by the organising committee to be a panelist for a session on “New Technologies”. He presented “Sparks Will Fly”, discussing electric vehicle fire risks, covering topics such as the history and development of electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, thermal runaway risks, vapour cloud explosions, fire statistics compared to traditional vehicles, risk reduction in the shipping industry, and the role of correspondents in investigations.
Portia Pong, an Associate from our Hong Kong office, and Youming Chen, a Partner from our Singapore office, also attended as delegates representing the Hong Kong office. The event was a great opportunity to network, connect with our peers and meet new friends. We enjoyed engaging with Club representatives and correspondents and we look forward to attending future events.
