Helen Robinson, a materials scientist based in our Kenilworth Office, completed a ‘Race the Sun’ challenge in the Brecon Beacons on Saturday 12 June 2021 in a team with her husband, dad and brother. The race was organised by Action Medical Research (www.action.org), which funds research to develop treatments, vaccinations and cures for childhood illness and diseases.  

The race had to be completed in daylight hours (hence the name), starting and finishing in Talybont-on-Usk.  It comprised a total of 50 miles cycling with a 10 mile hike/fell run up and down Pen y Fan in the middle. The whole race took place in glorious sunshine with a fortunate nice breeze. The team set off at 7am and completed the course in 6 hours 30 minutes, being the 4th complete team to finish out of approximately 40 teams.
