Experience:

After graduating, Roy spent 6 years with a petro-chemical contractor and 5 years with a firm of forensic consulting engineers. He joined Burgoynes in 1991 and has investigated over 1000 cases throughout his career.

Roy conducts investigations into a wide range of incidents involving mechanical and structural failures, accidents resulting in personal injuries and explosions related to equipment and processes. He also undertakes work associated with product liability and product defect issues. Major cases that Roy has investigated include gas explosions caused by the mechanical failures of rotating equipment and major fires associated with the operation of thermal fluid heating plant. He has devised and conducted tests to confirm the strength and stability of ladders. He has also undertaken investigations relating to the collapse of lifting equipment and warehouse storage racking.

Roy is often instructed as a Single Joint Expert and has acted as an expert in health and safety prosecution cases.
