Experience:
Richard is a Chartered Engineer with a background in the analysis, design and development of electrical machines. He has worked in academia and industry, and before joining Burgoynes he was Principal Electromagnetic Design Engineer with a global motor manufacturer. He has designed specialised motors for a variety of applications including passenger cars, construction vehicles and electric aircraft.
He joined Burgoynes in 2023 and specialises in the investigation of fires and engineering failures. His investigations have included fires at industrial, commercial and domestic premises, as well as failures of electrical equipment, vehicles and internal combustion engines.
He has lectured and supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students on several aspects of electrical machine design. He is a named inventor on two patents; he has published many engineering papers and has presented his work at international conferences.
