Experience:

Before joining Burgoynes, Chris worked for 8 years at a major pharmaceutical company, initially as a Trainee Analytical Chemist with responsibility for quality control testing of active pharmaceutical ingredients manufactured at the site. During this time he completed a BSc in Chemistry at the University of Greenwich, graduating with first-class honours. He then transferred to the Process Development Facility, where his responsibilities included providing key analytical support and advice during the scale-up of developmental chemical processes. Chris also has 5 years’ experience working as an industrial firefighter, responding to fires, first aid emergencies and chemical spill incidents. He is certified in the use of Self-Contained/Compressed Air Breathing Apparatus, trained in rope rescue and confined space rescue techniques, and experienced in the use of Gas Tight Chemical Protection Suits and both small and large scale decontamination. In addition, Chris worked for 3 years as a Retained Firefighter for Kent Fire & Rescue Service.

Chris joined Burgoynes in January 2010. He joined Burgoynes' Hong Kong office in 2017.

Chris specialises in the investigation of fires and explosions. Since joining, he has investigated over 500 incidents in the UK, Ireland, Europe and Asia. These incidents have involved domestic and commercial premises, electrical appliances, motor vehicles and industrial plant. Chris has prepared written evidence for use in both criminal and civil proceedings, and has given expert evidence in court.
