Darren Green, a fire investigator based at our Glasgow office, completed the Great Scottish Half Marathon on 29th September 2019, raising sponsorship for Calum’s Cabin charity. Darren completed the race in a personal best time of 1 hour 37 minutes 55 seconds. Well done Darren!
Calum’s Cabin charity was set up in the memory of Calum, a 12 year old boy from the Isle of Bute, who tragically lost his battle with a brain tumour in 2007. After Calum passed, the family set about fundraising to buy a caravan to be used by families dealing with a child with cancer, but after amazing work they were able to buy a plot of land and build a cabin. Further fundraising has allowed the charity to purchase a cottage in Bute for respite visits and to also purchase flats near to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, to accommodate families whilst undergoing hospital treatment.
Burgoynes contributed to Darren’s fundraising from our matched sponsorship fund.
