Burgoynes is pleased to announce that Nick Coogan has joined our team in Dubai.

After graduating with a BSc in Chemistry with Pharmaceutical and Forensic Science, Nick spent nine years with the UK Forensic Science Service.  Nick then worked for almost ten years with Hawkins, based firstly in the UK and then in Dubai from 2015. He specialised in the investigation of fire and explosion incidents and carried out approximately 500 investigations in a wide range of marine, industrial, commercial, agricultural and domestic settings worldwide. These included ships and vehicles, manufacturing and storage premises, construction sites, shopping centres, hotels, residential tower blocks, oil refineries, power stations, industrial machinery and air-handling ductwork. Causes of fires included the failure of high and low voltage electrical equipment, faults in electrical appliances and lithium batteries, self-heating (including marine cargoes), hot work, arson and gas explosions. He gained considerable experience of cases involving product recalls, public liability and product liability on behalf of corporate and insurance clients.

Nick also carried out investigations in a variety of other fields, including chemical incidents (such as material degradation and product damage), electrical incidents (such as electric shock), warehouse racking collapses, contamination assessment (such as water or soot contamination of stock or equipment), engineering-related incidents and escapes of water and other fluids.
