On 4 August 2019 Mark Slater, a Partner based in our Basingstoke office, completed the Prudential Ride London 100 closed road sportive.

The ride started in London and headed towards Surrey, but slowed down dramatically for a period of time due to some riders being held following a series of accidents and the subsequent congestion.  However, despite the heavily congested roads and three major hills to climb, Mark felt pretty good for the first ninety miles, but he found the last ten rather a struggle.  The ride finished back in London and Mark was pleased to see the Mall at the end (as pictured above).  The highlights were seeing all his friends and family at the thirty-eight mile mark in Byfleet (his home village and on the route), as well as having the privilege to ride on closed roads and receiving a motorcycle escort through Putney High Street!  Mark completed the event in six hours and forty minutes.

Mark would like to thank everyone who supported him and all of the monies raised will go to Taylor-Made Dreams, a charity which is close to his family’s hearts.  For more details, visit Mark's fundraising page here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?pageId=1076482

Earlier in the summer, Christine Grady, a secretary in our Manchester office, competed the 2019 Starlight Walk for St Rocco’s Hospice.  The 6.5 mile walk commenced at midnight and took place on 21 June 2019.  The route took Christine around Warrington and included a stop-off at the hospice to light a candle in memory of a loved one.  Christine completed the course in 2.5 hours.

Both Mark and Christine received support for their respective charities from Burgoynes’ sponsorship fund.
